"WE MAY BE A SMALL COUNTRY, BUT WE'RE A GREAT ONE, TOO. THE COUNTRY OF SHAKESPEARE, CHURCHILL, THE BEATLES, SEAN CONNERY, HARRY POTTER. DAVID BECKHAM'S RIGHT FOOT. DAVID BECKHAM'S LEFT FOOT, COME TO THAT."

january lars and the real girl ★★★☆☆ i loved this, i feel like it was a really sensitive portrayal and kelli garner was adorable in it.
all good things ★★☆☆☆ kind of blah, it had its good moments but i was disappointed by how slowly everything seemed to progress. the acting was stellar though.
sweeney todd and the demon barber of fleet street* ★★★★☆ god i love this movie beyond words. it takes everything i love about the tim/johnny/helena trio of glory and puts them all together in one macabre musical of joy. love love love.
beginners ★★☆☆☆ disappointing! watchable for sure and i enjoyed the gay dad aspect of it, but definitely not as good as i was expecting it would be.
bruno* ★★★☆☆ sacha baron cohen is a comedic genius. kudos to him for being a straight man and playing this character so well.
borat* ★★★★☆ i've seen this movie at least a dozen times and i never get bored of it or fail to laugh at the jokes. i just love it.
contagion ★★★★☆ pretty good! i really loved kate winslet in this. jude law's australian accent was kind of awful though... why didn't they get an actual australian accent or make him british, idgi.
the skin i live in ★★★★☆ disturbing on so many levels but i was hooked. i have a bad attention span for subtitles so it says a lot that i barely noticed them.
the notebook* ★★★★★ i'm a shameless girl over this movie. it will never get old. rachel mcadams is absolutely flawless in it.
midnight in paris ★★★★★ LOVED this. loved all the literary references, the characters were fantastic, it was unexpectedly hilarious in several places too. just such a great film. i watched it again like two days later.
a haunting in salem ★☆☆☆☆ i can't believe they bothered to film this in 3d. it was mildly entertaining but generally just pretty bad and predictable.
dream house ★★☆☆☆ i liked this... until the last five minutes, which were embarrassingly cheesy and kind of ruined the rest of the film for me. i felt like it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a full on horror movie or not.
friends with kids ★★★☆☆ i liked this well enough! maya and kristen were great, i wasn't overly impressed by the lead actress who looks uncomfortably covered in botox. but it was a cute storyline, predictable as hell but that's not always a bad thing imo.
blue valentine* ★★★★★ whenever i watch this movie i have to write off the next couple of hours because i sob to the point where my face is puffy for ages afterwards. one of my favourite movies of all time. i don't even particularly like michelle williams but she's just amazing in this. i find it seriously difficult to watch in places but i kind of love that because it just shows how convincing/realistic it is. idk why ryan wasn't oscar nominated as well because his performance was just as good as michelle's imo. idk why the movie in general wasn't oscar nominated. just one of the most powerful things i've ever seen in my life.
bridget jones: the edge of reason* ★★★☆☆ a cute, feelgood movie that i've seen a thousand times but still manages to make me smile. not cinematic genius but very watchable! plus hugh grant and colin firth, unf. i also find renee really likeable in this role.
laid to rest ★☆☆☆☆ lmao this movie was terrible. the acting was particularly bad. the only good thing about it was bobbi sue luther's boobs. that said, i made it through the entire thing and was impressed by the awesome gore factor. i am a girl who loves her horror movies, what can i say.
* = repeat watch
